This project was first proposed by former CM Rajnath Singh in 2001 with the vision of developing the hi-tech city of Noida. It was proposed as the Greenfield Taj international hub at Jewar near Greater Noida.

After that, it was later led by the former CM Akhilesh Yadav in 2012. But later, this project was hurled with the newly announced airport project in Agra. But, after the commencement of BJP as the ruling party in UP’s state government, the Noida airport project was again brought in speed.

After that, down the timeline in 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi finally laid the foundation stone. With that Prime Minister stated Jewar International airport as the biggest project for Uttar Pradesh.

The airport is 7km north of Jewar town in UP’s Gautam bud Nagar district. This project will be constructed and completed in 4 phases over 30 years. This will cost the government about Rs. 29,560 Crore.

The first phase of this project will be completed by the end of 2024. Once complete, this will significantly boost the Uttar Pradesh economy in terms of tourism, jobs, investments, trade, and more.

Benefits of Jewar Airport Project to UP’s Economy

As one of the biggest projects of Uttar Pradesh, this will significantly boost the state’s economy with huge funds. Therefore, here are some benefits that will see the boosting effects of this project.

Job Creation

From the proposal and size of this project, it was confirmed that this would attract many companies to build their offices in the city. Therefore, this will lead to an increase in the state’s employment rate.

Also, with its strategic location, it is expected that there will be more than 1 lakh job opportunities with the completion of this project. Be it from construction with workers, labours and engineers or the aviation industry.

This will not only help boost the state’s economy but also improve the lifestyle of all people by decreasing the unemployment rate.

Increase in Investments

With the completion of the airport, the project will also attract huge investments for the state. Also, there’s an expectation of investments of about 35000 Cr. in Noida. This includes several industries, like heavy construction equipment. This will support the demand for machinery in the construction industry.

To validate the statement, as of this year’s UP investor summit. The state government raised over Rs. 33 Lakh Cr. for different regions, including various industries.

With that said, the expectation of the investment is manageable. The major reason behind this number is its strategic location. This will attract corporate companies to invest and bring assets related to the region’s infrastructure.

Boost in Tourism

With the completion of the airport, there will be significant growth in the state’s tourism sector. It will ease people who will travel to nearby locations as- East Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, Meerut and more.

In addition, there will also be a growth in the number of travellers, with over 1 crore footfalls for Agra and Mathura. This will create a growing environment for the people connected in this industry.

Improving better Connectivity for Trade

UP is a big state that exports several goods across the country and the world. With this, the government plans the Jewar airport to be the first-ever airport with an integrated multi-modal cargo hub. Which, in turn, will raise the density of the shipment activity. Also, this will provide growth to the trade industry and the state’s economy.

Improving the city’s infrastructure

The completion of the project will attract infrastructure companies to inaugurate new projects in the region. This will significantly boost the real estate development and sales of the Greater Noida region.

The Jewar airport project is really crucial for the city. Experts feel this will increase the demand for improved infrastructure in nearby areas like Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway.

Along with this, there will be an increase in demand for huge apartments, schools, malls, and business parks to new societies, roads and a new hospitality sector. For this, construction companies must have new equipment to cope with the city’s rapid development. This will change the face of the city with new sectors and companies settling in Noida and nearby cities.

Construction companies will improve their working strategies with new equipment added to their fleet, like ACE AX-124with on-road price-subjected market standards.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the construction of Jewar International Airport is a blessing to the Uttar Pradesh vision of a $1 trillion economy. This project will be completed in 4 phases over 30 years.

This involves a lot of benefits that will add up to the growth of the state economy. Like attraction to big corporations and demand and development of the city’s infrastructure. All of this will result in a better future for the economy and this country’s youth with reduced unemployment.
