The code can be found in a lot of Konami games, but it can also be found in other games. Putting it in can lead to really cool Easter eggs or buffs. Even though the code is well-known, some of these uses are very well hidden and took years to figure out.
Dead By Daylight
Dead by Daylight is one of the most popular, if not the most popular, horror game for multiple players right now. It has so much content from other movies and computer games at this point. Silent Hill, which is owned by Konami, is one of these licensed products. Heather, Pyramid Head, and the plan of the Elementary School have been added. It was a nice surprise, since Silent Hill didn’t seem likely to return in 2020.
There was also a sweet Easter egg. Once the Silent Hill DLC is installed, go to the main area and enter the Konami code. This will get the Vic Viper charm out of its box. For those who don’t know, Vic Viper is the main ship in the Gradius series. The first game in the series was the first to use the famous code, which was a cool treat for people who entered the code on a whim.
Kid Dracula (NES)
Back in the day, Konami made a lot of different kinds of games. Not only did you get a lot of main stories, but you also got weird spin-offs like Kid Dracula. It’s a good game, but the Game Boy version is better because it’s a parody of the Castlevania series. Around this time, the Konami code did something in almost every Konami game, and Kid Dracula is no exception.
But it might not be what you think it will be. When you start the game and enter the code on the main screen, you’ll see a message that says, “Sorry! This time, nothing!” This Easter egg is funny because a lot of people would put in the code since it has been used in so many games. Plus, it’s good for a game that makes fun of itself.
Super Monkey Ball Jr.
The first Monkey Ball game you can play on the go, Jr., is a fun and amazing GBA game. The Konami code is used in the same way as Kid Dracula, but it’s a huge trap. If you type the correct code on the title screen, a message that says “Nice try” will show up.
At that point, you might think the code doesn’t do anything, but you just need to change a few things. If you switch the Up and Down buttons, you can use the “Enable All” cheat, which will let you play everything in the game. It’s one thing to make fun of you a little, but it’s quite another to trick you totally. That’s more than what most people do when they use the code.
Silent Hill 3
This is a great one. Silent Hill 3 has the best and most unusual unlockables in the series, like a costume for Heather that looks like it came from Sailor Moon. On the other hand, Douglas also has an extra outfit, but it doesn’t look as good on him. If you put the code on the main screen and start an Extra New Game, his bonus outfit will be unlocked.
He is still wearing his trench coat and tie, but he doesn’t have his shirt or pants. This makes the first cutscene, in which Heather talks to a stranger she doesn’t know, much funny. It’s a good bonus that makes the game more fun to play again and again.
Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped
It’s great to get a cool buff or Easter egg from the Konami code, but it’s even better to get a test to play. Input the code on the title screen of Crash Bandicoot 3 for the PS1, but press Square after the steps.
This lets you play a trial version of the first Spyro the Dragon game. Back then, it was always cool to get demos as a bonus unlock, which is something you don’t see as often today. The secret came back in the N Sane Trilogy, but all you get is a trailer for Spyro, which isn’t very fun.
Mario Party 1
Even though there are now a lot of Mario Party games, the first one is still a fun party game. Especially the boards are still some of the best parts of the series. Like a lot of Nintendo N64 games, this one has a debug menu where you can find useful information.
In Mario Party, you can see stats, which are pretty important given that you get extra stars at the end. To do this, on player one’s turn, use controller two to stop the game. Enter the Konami code on controller one to get to the debug screen. Basically, if you know about this, you can cheat in online games.
Trials Evolution
With a full-on prize hunt, Trials Evolution already has one of the best Easter eggs of all time. But there was another Easter egg that didn’t get found until almost five years after the game came out. In the second DLC pack, you can enter the Konami code to get to a secret spot in the Moneyball skill game.
When you press A, X, A, and X after the vertical ones, it’s a little different. To answer this secret grid, go right, right, up once, right, up twice, right, up four times, right, and up seven times. This will bring up a saying by Niels Bohr. Even though the title is funny, it’s crazy that there are so many hidden references to historical events and people in a motorbike game.
Zone Of The Enders: The 2nd Runner
One of Kojima Productions’ best games, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner, wasn’t even made by Kojima. It’s still one of the best mech fighting games ever made. Vic Viper from Gradius plays a surprising big part in the game. He is even a boss you have to fight. Go to Boss Battle mode in the Extra Missions and choose the Vic Viper fight.
Stop the game when you are in a fight and enter the Konami code. After you’ve told the game where to go, press L1/LB and then R1/RB. After the fight, this will let you play the Zoradius quest, which is a 3D version of the old Konami shoot-em-ups. It’s a lot of fun, and just like the old games, entering the code here maxes out your power-ups.
Contra (NES)
People also call the Konami code the Contra code, and there’s a good reason for that. This is probably the most-used part of the code. To get 30 extra lives, you must enter it at the title screen. Contra is a great game for the NES, but it is also one of the hardest.
This cheat makes the game much easier to beat, and most people did it back then and still do it now. You can play without it, but there’s no reason to unless you really want to test your skills. The Konami code is used by everyone in this Doodle Baseball game, but it is used better in one other Contra.
Contra 4
Even though the Konami code is well-known, the 30 life code for Contra 4 was kept secret for a long time after the game came out. People were upset that Contra 4 didn’t have the 30 life code because it might be the hardest Contra game yet. You must use the DS touchscreen to type it in.
When you get to the first level, tap the top, bottom, left, and right parts of the screen to enter the Konami code. Then, press B, A, and tap the screen in the middle. This will give you 30 more lives, and it’s easy to see why this was kept for so long. Using a touch screen to enter the code is a cool way to use it, and, like Contra 1, it is very useful.
